Structure

Originally launched as a project of the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma (Zentralrat Deutscher Sinti und Roma), MIA has operated as an independent organization—the Reporting and Information Centre on Antigypsyism e.V.—since September 1, 2023.

The MIA federal office in Berlin coordinates nationwide activities (see Mission), leads the federal working group, and develops and ensures the implementation of quality standards across all areas of our work.

To date, six regional MIA reporting centres have been established in the federal states of Bavaria, Berlin, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Schleswig-Holstein, and Saxony. Additional centers are planned in close cooperation with state governments.

Regional reporting centers—always anchored in the structures of community-based associations of Sinti and Roma —are essential for the long-term and sustainable fight against antigypsyism in Germany.

MIA is supported by an advisory board composed of experts from academia and civil society. This board provides technical and strategic guidance to the federal office.
